Yoshikazu Kondo (近藤義和), known by his artist name Gisui (義翠), has devoted more than six decades to the art of ceramics. Born on January 19, 1947, Kondo entered the world of pottery at the age of fifteen, immediately after graduating from junior high school. In 1962, he began under the guidance of Kita Osamu Takasuke I.
For decades, Kondo has explored the relationship between tea culture and ceramic design. As an instructor of the Gyokusen School of the All Japan Sencha Tea Association, he possesses a profound understanding of the needs of tea practitioners and enthusiasts alike.
