This elegant cha-koboshi (waste water bowl) features a subtle colour gradient and delicate floral engraving.
A cha-koboshi (茶こぼし) is a waste water vessel used to hold any water that has been used to preheat or rinse the other utensils in senchado (煎茶道 - sencha tea ceremony) in much the same way as a kensui (建水) is used during a matcha tea ceremony. In fact, cha-koboshi are sometimes called kensui and kensui are sometimes called koboshi, showing their relation.
