Description

This chakin (茶巾 - tea cloth) is hand-woven from 100% linen in the coarse and robust Hoda-ori (保田織) weave, which is preferred by most samurai-class schools of tea ceremony, such as Ueda Sōko-ryū, Sōwa-ryū, and Enshu-ryū.

Measuring roughly 30cm (12in) by 15cm (6in), a slightly damp, folded chakin is used to wipe and dry the preheated chawan before and between bowls of tea during a tea ceremony or for daily drinking.
