This unique Banko-yaki kyusu (teapot) has a yohen (窯変) finish, with patches of black and green natural ash glaze deposits covering the clay body. This teapot comes with a ceramic debeso (half-spherical) filter which adds no metallic tastes to the tea.

Banko-yaki (萬古焼) is a type of Japanese pottery that traditionally comes from Yokkaichi in Mie Prefecture, Japan. Its characteristic purple hue comes from the mixture of red oxidised iron and blue high temperature-baked iron in the clay.
