Vintage Banko-yaki side-handle Japanese kyusu (teapot) with a fine mesh strainer, perfect for brewing sencha or other Japanese teas.
Banko-yaki (萬古焼) is a type of Japanese pottery that traditionally comes from Yokkaichi in Mie prefecture, Japan. Its characteristic purple hue comes from the mixture of red oxidised iron and blue high temperature-baked iron in the clay. This teapot was made by Hougets (峰月) at the Touzan kiln (陶山窯).
