This Akazu-yaki hira-chawan (matcha bowl) has a deeply crazed and textured grey and white shino-style glaze. Its wide and flat shape are ideal for use in the warmer summer months.
Akazu-yaki (赤津焼) comes from the Akazu district of Aichi Prefecture, and is often considered a subset of Seto-yaki.
Made by Nakajima Mitsuhisa (中島 満久) who makes pottery under the name Shunsou (春草). This chawan comes in its original kiribako (wooden paulownia box).
