This Rengetsu-style Kyo-yaki chawan (matcha bowl) is decorated with blue kana-shodō ( かな書道 - hiragana calligraphy) in the style of Ōtagaki Rengetsu (太田垣 蓮月). Additionally, the calligraphy is accented by an iron underglaze painting of grass.
The poem reads:
|
In the fields, in the mountains
delighted, deeply so
returning to my bedroom
accompanied by
the autumn night moon.
