This portable chabako tea ceremony set consists of a lacquered chabako (tea box) which comes with matching beige Kyo-yaki chawan (matcha bowl), furidashi (sweets container), and chakindashi (holder for the chakin/tea cloth); along with a clear-lacquered kogo (incense container) and smaller nodate-sized chasen (matcha whisk) and chashaku (matcha scoop).
The three Kyo-yaki pieces are stamped 昌山 and feature gilded fan decorations. This fan theme is carried on to the kogo.
Kyo-yaki (京焼) is a type of Japanese pottery that traditionally comes from Kyoto, Japan. The pottery traditions of Kyoto date back to the 5th century and are varied in their styles.
