This Japanese tea set includes one houhin (handleless teapot), one yuzamashi (water cooler) and four matching senchawan (small teacups), each featuring a jet black glaze decorated with a blue-green drip glaze, which contrasts nicely with the unglazed sections which reveal the warm orange stoneware.
Compared to a kyusu, a houhin has a wide, triangular open spout which allows for fast pouring, a simple ceramic do-ake filter which lends no metallic taste to the tea, and a wide opening which allows for easy viewing of the tea leaves and easy cleaning.
This tea set is perfect for brewing up high-quality Japanese teas. Made by Katsurayama Kiln (桂山窯).
