This set of three Agano-yaki ushirode yunomi (rear-handled teacups) feature a brilliant turquoise drip-glaze.
Agano-yaki (上野焼) is a type of Japanese pottery that traditionally comes from Fukuchi in Fukuoka Prefecture, Japan. Praised for its elegance and light weight, Agano ware began being produced in the 17th century.
Agano ware is famous for its use of enamels over the glaze. The most well-known of these enamels produces a vibrant blue-green/turquoise dripping effect caused by copper oxide in the enamel.
