Ōju Aloeswood Incense Sticks
Ōju (鷹樹 - Eaglewood) is one of Yamadamatsu’s finest and most intense blends, with an opulent and meditative scent profile built around a complex core of Kalimantan aloeswood. While this amazing wood is solidly at the forefront, the spice mix takes this stick down a different path than many other high-end aloeswood blends, with a savory nutty, buttery note that compliments the refined bitterness of the aloeswood. Unabashedly dark, thick, and resinous, Ōju is like a black void that you can lose yourself in. Rather than being lit in the background, this stick deserves to be ‘listened’ to and enjoyed intently so you can unravel its complexity. The lingering aroma can last for hours after the stick has finished burning.
This box contains approximately 19g (~50 sticks) of 14cm long sticks, which burn for about 25 minutes.

Founded in 1772, Yamadamatsu Kōboku-ten (山田松香木店) is one of Japan's most respected incense houses. As their name suggests, they have long specialised in kōboku - the aromatic woods of sandalwood, aloeswood, and kyara which form the heart of Japanese incense culture. Their original recipes lean heavily on the exquisite quality of their raw ingredients and the ingenuity and creativity with which they combine them to form unforgettable aromas.
