Miyazakien 宮ザキ園

Located in Nukata, Aichi and founded in the late Edo Era in 1820 by Umemura Kiroko, Miyazakien have over two centuries of tea farming and processing expertise. They continue to grow their tea without pesticides or chemical fertilisers, and espouse a lifestyle in tune with nature.

Miyazakien is run by the Umemura power couple of sixth generation famer Umemura Atsushi and his wife Hiroko. In addition to running his family's tea farm and factory, Atsushi-san practices the Fusō-ha Oribe-ryū style of chanoyu, runs a cafe, fishes, and is preparing to take his zen vows. Hiroko-san started her own school of senchadō, after mastering the Basai-ryū style.
