Description

This simple and elegant yunomi (teacup) has a hantsutsu-gata (半筒形 - half-cylindrical shape) shape and is thrown from an iron-rich red clay, glazed in an iron-rich glaze resulting in a matte, almost metallic black.

Its 100ml capacity along with its classic shape makes this cup ideal for all types of tea.

Sugawara Kengo (菅原顕悟) of Yōki Kiln (陽気窯) is an independent potter who started his workshop at the foot of Mt. Katsuragi in Nara out of a desire to create goods with his hands. He specialises in kohiki (粉引), a Korean slip coating technique. His wares are thin and light, showing off his immense skills on the wheel.
