Born in 1964, Tanimura Tango (谷村丹後) is a 20th generation chasen-shi (茶筅師 - tea whisk master), one of the only 16 or so remaining. These whisks are made from locally grown bamboo in the small village of Takayama (高山) in northwest Nara prefecture, famed as the only chasen making village in Japan.
