This fukusa-basami (袱紗挟み - cloth wallet) is woven from green, yellow, and black silk, which combine to create a dark green, variegated appearance. The front flap is decorated with orange embroidered butterflies. This larger size is designed for men.
Made by Erizen (京ごふく ゑり善), a kimono producer founded in 1584.
Fukusa-basami (袱紗挟み), also called kaishi-ire (懐紙入れ), are small silk wallets used by guests in a tea ceremony to carry small items, such as kaishi paper, fukusa, folding fans (sensu), and kuromoji/yoji. They can also be used for carrying personal items in other formal or casual settings.
