Japanese Matcha Bowl - 加藤秀山 Katou Hideyama - Blue Shino Mino-yaki Chawan - 400ml

This product is no longer available

This blue Mino-yaki hantsutsu-gata Shino chawan (matcha bowl) features a heavily textured shino glaze decorated with an iron underglaze. The texture is a mix between intense glaze crawling similar to kairagi, and the typical pinhole texture of Shino ware, called 'suana' (nest holes) or 'yuzuhada' (yuzu skin) in Japanese.

Made by Katou Hideyama (加藤秀山).

Mino-yaki (美濃焼,) is a type of Japanese pottery produced in Mino Province in Gifu Prefecture, Japan. Since the introduction of mass production in the Meiji period (1868–1912), Mino ware accounts for around 50% of Japanese pottery produced today.
