This porcelain Arita-yaki tea set includes one kyusu (teapot) and five matching yunomi (teacups), each glazed in a brushed light brown. The teapot has a ceramic debeso (half-spherical) filter, which compared to a steel mesh filter, introduces no metallic flavours to the tea. The teacups have a white interior which lets you see the true colour of the tea. Comes with the original paulownia wooden box called a 'kiribako'.

Arita-yaki (有田焼) is a type of Japanese pottery that traditionally comes from the are around the town of Arita on the island of Kyushu, Japan. Since the discovery of the raw materials for porcelain near Arita in the 16th century, Arita has been one of the major centers of Japanese porcelain production.

Shipped in original wooden box.
