Japanese Teacups - Pair of 畑萬陶苑 Meoto Arita-gata Yunomi
This couple's pair of tall, waisted Arita-gata yunomi (teacups) made in the classic blue and white style, featuring a beautiful illustration of a village in front of distant mountains. Called 'meoto yumomi' in Japanese, couple's pairs of teacups are traditional wedding gifts. Made by Hataman Toen (畑萬陶苑).
Arita-yaki (有田焼) is a type of Japanese pottery that traditionally comes from the are around the town of Arita on the island of Kyushu, Japan. Since the discovery of the raw materials for porcelain near Arita in the 16th century, Arita has been one of the major centers of Japanese porcelain production.
