This kogo (incense container) features a earthy brown clay sculpted to resemble a tomato.

In Japanese tea ceremony, kogo are used to hold wood chip incense during the furo (brazier - summer/spring) season while ceramic kogo are used to hold neriko (kneaded incense) during the ro (hearth - autumn/winter) season.
