This wan-nari Irabo chawan (matcha bowl) features a speckled Irabo-style glaze and pronounced rokurome (ろくろ目) - a spiraling shape made by the fingers drawing up the bowl on the pottery wheel. The inside is decorated with a white hakeme brush stroke.
The original Irabo (伊羅保) chawan were made in Joseon Korea and imported to Japan during the early Edo era. Known for its textured surface and glaze, Irabo chawan are now made across Japan.
