Mino-yaki (美濃焼) is a type of Japanese pottery produced in Mino Province in Gifu Prefecture, Japan. Since the introduction of mass production in the Meiji period (1868–1912), Mino ware accounts for around 50% of Japanese pottery produced today.
About the Ceramics
This Mino-yaki chawan (matcha bowl) features a deep blue-black glaze which beautifully highlights the vibrant green of matcha. Its simple and classic wan-nari shape makes it easy for anyone to use.

This Mino-yaki chawan (matcha bowl) has a classic wan-nari shape with a subtle spiral effect called rokurome (ろくろ目 - pottery wheel marks) made by the potter's fingers as they slide up the cup, shaping it on the pottery wheel. It is a glazed in an off-white, kohiki-style glaze, with subtle pink spots in a glaze effect known as gohonte (御本手). Made by Maruyoshi (丸義).

This Oribe chawan (matcha bowl) is glazed in a finely crazed light cream, decorated with an iron underpainting of a snow-capped Mount Fuji and accented with splashes of the iconic copper green Oribe glaze. Unlike some traditional Oribe chawan which have distorted shapes, this bowl is perfectly round making it easy for beginners to use.
