This vintage handmade chawan (matcha bowl) is made in the Dojimari-gata (waisted) shape with a porcelain body glazed in a deep burnt umber with lighter sienna patches. This chawan has a pronounced 茶溜まり (chadamari) which means 'tea well': depression in the bottom of the bowl where the last drops of matcha will pool after drinking.
